Seven Palestinians Wounded in Raids, Settler Violence in West Bank

(MENAFN) Seven Palestinians were injured Saturday in a series of Israeli military raids and settler assaults across the southern occupied West Bank's Hebron and Bethlehem governorates, Palestinian medical and security sources said.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its teams transported a young man to hospital after he was shot in the abdomen and hand with live rounds during an Israeli military incursion into Beit Ummar in Hebron governorate. Two additional Palestinians were struck by live fire during a separate army raid on Beit Fajjar in the Bethlehem governorate.

Four more Palestinians were hurt after Israeli settlers attacked residents in the Wadi al-Rakhim area of Masafer Yatta in Hebron, beating them and deploying pepper spray, local sources said.

The weekend incidents reflect a documented pattern of escalating violence. During April alone, settlers carried out 540 attacks against Palestinians and their property across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, according to a monthly report by the Palestinian Authority's Commission against the Wall and Settlements.

Since the Gaza war began in October 2023, Israeli military and settler violence in the West Bank has killed 1,162 Palestinians, wounded 12,245 others, and resulted in nearly 23,000 arrests, according to official figures.
