Police Arrest Over Twenty Individuals After Fatal Attack in Nigeria
Alabo Alfred, the spokesperson for Plateau State police, reported in a statement late Saturday that the violent mob attack targeted wedding guests traveling from neighboring Kaduna State. The incident occurred on Friday night within the Mangu local government area.
According to the police, the mob stopped the bus carrying the victims and set it on fire, causing the deaths of no fewer than eight people while injuring seven others. Rescue efforts saved 21 individuals, with 14 escaping without any injuries.
In a security operation conducted on Saturday, police managed to apprehend 22 suspects linked to the attack.
The statement further mentioned that authorities have launched a formal inquiry to determine the exact details and motivations behind the brutal assault.
