Migrant Boat Overturn Kills at Least 20 People Near Italy’s Lampedusa
(MENAFN) A tragic migrant boat accident off Italy’s Lampedusa Island in the Mediterranean has resulted in at least 20 confirmed deaths, according to a report Tuesday from a news agency. Rescue teams continue intensive recovery efforts after the vessel, carrying dozens of migrants, overturned near the Italian coast.
The vessel, which was carrying a group of migrants, capsized in the Mediterranean Sea, with recovery teams retrieving 20 bodies to date. Operations are still underway, according to the report.
